Who We Are-Escudo Latino de Springfield Oregon

Here at Escudo Latino de Springfield, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding in September 2019, we have been determined to make an impact. Comunidad is a core value. Estamos Aqui!! Our program  volunteers  make a difference to our people. We all need that one to one support on our daily life to navigate and look up resources.  Our leadership and trust in our Comunidad stands STRONG.

About Us

Turning Interest Into Action

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Escudo Latino de Springfield emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2019, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Contact us to learn more and get involved.

ESCUDO HISTORY

2019 - NOW

Our Leadership and Journey 

2019 - We are a proud grassroot collective action volunteers in Lane County Oregon. Residents in Springfield/Eugene/Lane County, Latino and 1st and 2nd generation immigrants and Oregonians.

2020- Over 20 plus volunteer members including Business Owners, Parents, and Youth.

​

2020- During the Pandemic time - we hold our first Bicultural and Bilingual food Pantry for Latino residents in Lane County. Bring weekly updates and resources in Spanish and on site guest to share resources. Distributing every Saturday over 250 food boxes with Latinx food items and fresh foods. We ran a food Pantry for over two and a half years in all type of weather conditions, including smoking wildlife hazard.

2020 - Collaborate with Lane County Public Health to host Covid vaccine on site during our Food Pantry Hours.

2020 to 2021 - Started Preplanning the first Latinx Mural in Springfield. With the collaboration and ideas of students, parent, community partners, business owners and Latino/as. 

​

Aug 1 2021 - First Latinx Mural celebration outside Memo's Mexican Restaurant.

More about our Journey 

2022 - Held Our first Back to School backpack and School Supplies and handed over 150 backpacks to Latino students in Lane County. We also had our first Latino families Season of Giving gifts to children's and families in Lane County serving over 20 homes. 

2023 - Our Latinx Parent Support Group group grew and has continue to uphold in a safe environment for parents to learn and share helpful skills.

2024- Worked in partnership with Lane County Public Health to Host CPR training in Spanish and other Emergency preparation for natural disasters or family emergencies. 

2025- Emergency Preparation and Holding multiply Training in the community and sharing resource to our immigrant and mixed household families of Know There Rights.  

2026- Continue to share resources, do referrals to others site, collaborate in community and share daily news in Lane County in Spanish. Estamos Vivo! Y sigue la LUCHA por nuestra Comunidad!
